TERMS & CONDITIONS OF RENTAL 
 DOODOO RENT A CAR®

These Terms & Conditions of Rental (T&C) govern the contractual relationship between the Renter (Customer) and the local operating company identified on the rental agreement, a licensed member of the DOODOO RENT A CAR®network.

Each DOODOO RENT A CAR® agency is operated by an independent legal entity, licensed by KB Holding SAS, the owner of the registered trademark DOODOO RENT A CAR® (EUIPO No. 019216916).

Billing, payment collection, deposit management, and contract execution are carried out solely by the local operating company named in the rental agreement.

KB Holding SAS, as brand owner and network manager, is not a contractual party and does not collect any paymentson behalf of customers.

The present T&C form, together with the Specific Rental Conditions, the Rental Agreement, and the Vehicle Condition Report, a legally binding contract between the Renter and the Operator.

1. RENTAL CONDITIONS & VEHICLE PICK-UP

1.1 Required Documents

The renter must present:

  • A valid driving licence (held for at least 2 years, or 5 years for certain categories).

  • A valid passport or ID card.

  • A credit/debit card in the name of the main driver for the security deposit.

Minimum age requirements:

  • 21 years old for most vehicles.

  • 25 years old for premium or utility vehicles.

Young Driver Option (-21 years old)

Drivers under 21 may rent any category of vehicle provided they subscribe to the “Young Driver Option”.
This option grants full access to the vehicle range and standard insurance coverage.
Without this option, driving by persons under 21 is strictly prohibited and voids all insurance coverage.

1.2 Security Deposit & Pre-Authorization

A security deposit is pre-authorized on the renter’s credit card at pick-up to cover potential damages, fines, or extra fees.

  • Standard deposit: €750 for cars and light commercial vehicles.

  • For “Premium Protection” insurance, the deposit is reduced to €500.

  • The deposit is held as a bank imprint, not charged, unless costs arise.

Franchise / Deductible

  • Without insurance: €1,500 maximum liability.

  • With “Medium Protection”: €750 deductible.

  • With “Premium Protection”: €500 deductible.

If the deposit is lower than the applicable deductible, the Operator is entitled to charge the balance from the renter’s card once the final repair estimate or cost is known.

The deposit amount does not limit the renter’s financial liability in case of damage, theft, or contractual breach.

1.3 Payment Methods & Cancellation Policy

  • Accepted payments: Visa, Mastercard, American Express.

  • Cash payments may be accepted only with a certified bank cheque for the deposit.

  • Free cancellation up to 48 hours before pick-up.

  • After this deadline: 50% of the rental total will be charged.

1.3 bis “Maximum Flexibility” Option

This optional add-on allows free modification or cancellation up to the scheduled pick-up time, with no penalty.

Without this option, the standard cancellation policy (48h rule) applies.
The option must be selected at the time of booking and cannot be applied retroactively.

1.4 Authorization to Charge

The renter expressly authorizes the Operator to debit the registered credit card for:

  • Deductible in case of damage or theft,

  • Missing fuel,

  • Traffic or parking fines (plus admin fees),

  • Cleaning, abandonment, or late return fees,

  • Or any amount due under the contract.

This authorization remains valid until the case file is fully closed.

Retention in case of incident

In case of vehicle abandonment, major damage, non-return, or fraud suspicion,
the Operator may retain the full deposit until the investigation and repair assessment are complete (maximum 30 business days).

1.5 Bookings via Brokers or Online Platforms

Any booking made through a third-party broker, travel agent, or OTA implies full acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.
Taking possession of the vehicle constitutes electronic acceptance of the DOODOO RENT A CAR® contract.
In the event of conflict between broker terms and these T&C, these Terms shall prevail.

1.6 Electronic Communication

All correspondence related to the rental (contract, invoices, inspection reports, fines) may be sent by email to the address provided at booking.
Electronic documents have the same legal value as printed ones.

1.7 Mileage Policy & Unlimited Option

Unless otherwise stated, rentals include 200 km per day (accumulative).
Excess mileage is billed as follows:

  • €0.34/km for categories A & B

  • €0.40/km for category C and above

Unlimited Mileage Option:
Available at €75/day, allowing up to 700 km/day.
Beyond this limit, excess mileage fees apply.
Misuse (e.g., commercial or cross-border use without authorization) voids this benefit.

1.8 Child Seat / Baby Seat Option

Child and baby seats meeting EU safety standards (ECE R44/04) are available for rent.

DOODOO RENT A CAR® staff are not permitted to install child seats for safety and liability reasons.
Installation and compliance remain the sole responsibility of the renter.
The renter must verify proper installation before departure.

1.9 Cross-Border Travel

By default, vehicle use is restricted to France.
Travel abroad is forbidden without subscribing to the “Cross-Border Option” (€25 per contract).

Permitted only within EU member states and upon prior declaration.
Unauthorized travel outside France results in:

  • Immediate loss of insurance coverage,

  • €400 contractual penalty, and

  • Possible termination of the rental agreement without refund.

2. INSURANCE, LIABILITY & DAMAGES

2.1 Included Coverage

All vehicles include mandatory third-party liability insurance, covering:

  • Material and bodily injury to third parties.

  • Legal coverage as defined by French law.

2.2 Insurance Options

Deductible: €1,500 – Deposit: €750

✗ No roadside assistance

★★☆ MEDIUM PROTECTION – €15/day

Deductible: €750 – Deposit: €750
✓ Reduced deductible (from €1,500 → €750)
✓ Windscreen & tyre protection
✓ 24/7 assistance
✗ No interior protection

★★★ PREMIUM PROTECTION – €38/day

Deductible: €500 – Deposit: €500
✓ Maximum deductible reduction
✓ Windscreen, tyre & interior protection
✓ 24/7 roadside assistance

All protections apply only for the contract duration and are non-transferable.
They do not cover personal belongings or prohibited uses (see Article 2.3).

2.3 Exclusions of Coverage

Insurance does not cover damage caused by:

  • Driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication.

  • Gross negligence, speeding, or traffic violations.

  • Unauthorized use (off-road, races, underage, etc.).

  • Intentional or reckless damage.

3. FUEL, MAINTENANCE & RETURN POLICY

3.1 Vehicle Care

The renter is responsible for daily maintenance (oil, tyres, levels).
Negligence resulting in damage will be billed.

3.2 Fuel

Vehicles are delivered with a full tank and must be returned with the same level.
If not:

  • Refuelling charge: €3.50/litre + €30 service fee.

  • Wrong fuel: all repair costs at renter’s expense.

3.3 Late Return, Abandonment & One-Way Fees

  • Delay < 59 minutes: tolerated.

  • Beyond: one extra day charged.

  • Delay > 24h without notice: vehicle may be declared stolen.

Special fees:

  • Vehicle abandonment: €400.

  • Return in another city/agency (“One Way”): €400 + €50 admin fee.
    These may be deducted from the deposit (see 1.4).

3.4 Automated Locker Pick-Up / Drop-Off (24/7)

Some agencies offer automated lockers for vehicle collection and return without staff.
Upon full payment and deposit validation, the renter receives a personal access code.
Retrieving the key from the locker constitutes official vehicle delivery.

From that moment, the renter is fully responsible for the vehicle until return.
For drop-off:

  • The key must be placed back in the locker before the end time.

  • The car must be properly parked and locked.

  • Photos may be required for verification.

Failure to comply (missing key, misparked vehicle, no proof of return) may result in additional fees.
If damage or abandonment is detected, the Operator may retain the full deposit (up to €750/€500) and charge further costs up to €1,500 if justified.

4. FINES, FEES & OTHER CHARGES

  • All traffic fines are the renter’s responsibility.

  • €40 administration fee applies per fine.

  • Lost keys: €600.

  • Lost vehicle documents: €200.

  • Excessive dirt or odor: cleaning charged as per agency rate.

5. ASSISTANCE, BREAKDOWN & THEFT

  • In case of breakdown or accident, call the 24/7 number listed in the contract.

  • Unauthorized repairs are not reimbursed.

  • Without assistance coverage, all costs remain payable by the renter (up to €250).

  • In case of theft: file a police report within 48 hours and return the keys and papers.
    Failure to do so may result in full vehicle value being charged.

6. PERSONAL DATA & CONNECTED VEHICLES

Personal data are processed according to GDPR.
Some vehicles may have geolocation or telematics systems used for security, mileage control, or fraud prevention.

7. GOVERNING LAW & JURISDICTION

These Terms are governed by French law.
Any dispute shall fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the vehicle pick-up location.
The renter may contact an accredited consumer mediator for amicable resolution.
